Plot of the movie:
Chalie Lang (Nicolas Cage) is a member of one police department. Chalie has to go to work as normal and he is so focused on his job. He did not want any name, popularity or benefit back. What he wants is just to follow his duty as one policeman.
Charlie has one good friend, an Afro-American. They two always go together for all mission. But Charlie's friend did not act as good as Charlie. He always pushes Charlie to take care of the family. He wants Charlie to spend sometime with his wife. However, Charlie is very serious man. He fully works and he never escapes from his obligation at all.
Charlie's wife, on the other hand, never feels good towards Charlie at all. At the very first 3 years of marriage, Charlie and his wife were so care of each other. But three years later, they found out they did share a little common understanding with each other and very big part of their life did not have the intersection.
Charlie likes his job while his wife wants to go shopping. Charlie did not care about money whereas his wife always blames him about making less money. Charlie requires simple life while his wife wants a fantastic and highshow, civilized life. There are big gap between this couple and they are growing bigger and bigger by day and night.
Charlie's wife often argum with Charlie. She asks Charlie to quit job as a police and get another job which can earn lots of money. But Charlie did not follow that idea. Charlie really likes his current job. Charlie's wife tell him not to devote everything for the mission because it is dangerous and could life but Charlie did not even care of.
For many times, Charlie got injured due to his severe mission. He was honored in a row for years at his police department. Yet, he also got criticism from his wife in a row as well. She never looks at him in a good way at all. Charlie's life is a bit chaost then but he never sticks to this particular problem. As long as he can serve his society good, as long as he can bring the safety, order an security to his community, he will be fine.
One day, Charlie was in a hurry situation. He entered a cafeteria and ordered a coffee. A beautiful lady in that shop came to him and ask for order. Charlie told that he wants a cup of coffee. He waited for a while and he got his coffee. That time he almost drink his coffee, he got call from his friend that the mission is calling to complete. Charlie look at his pocket but he did have money. He then made a deal with her by making a promise with her that he has just bought a lottery and if he won, he will share to her of half of it.
Who knows! Magic happens to Charlie. The next day, Charlie got an announcement that he won millions of dollars lottery. For most of us, we may ignore our promise but Charlie did not. He came to that waitress and share her half the fortune. Charlie's wife was not happy with that. And she planned a way to grab all money from Charlie and the waitress.
Charlie's wife sued a case to the court and demand Charlie to give her all money including the money he gave to the waitress and she divorced Charlie. Charlie lost the case became a homeless person. But the story did not here. It was broadcast through TV and radio about Charlie's kindness and generousity. Then there were an initiation to create Charlie Fund all over the United States. Charlie did not his at all. The post consisting letters and some small money have been sent to Charlie's house. For almost two years, Charlie's house got full of post mail. One day, Charlie and the waitress, after they got together, returned back to their home and they found lots of mail and money.
Charlie was surprise with his fortune. He thought that he is a bad luck person. But he now realized that when we do good there is always a good return. From then onward, Charlie and his new wife continue the mission to create magic life for homeless and marginal life people all over America.
